It’s hard to write a blog entry when you have nothing new to write about. I spent the little time I had to spare, working on the MPC and the story. I started what I’m calling the “block out” for the story. Don’t know if that’s the proper term for it… Probably isn’t. For me, it’s the next step up from an outline.
One (more) thing I’m unclear on, is how much attention I should pay to the gameplay at this stage. I don’t want to just write a story and try to plug it into the game as an afterthought.
On the other hand, trying to write with the game in mind adds more of a challenge to something that’s already pretty challenging. I think I’m just going to pay attention to the story for now and not think too much about how it’ll work in the game. I’m still at an early enough stage – I think it’s OK. Plus, I thought a lot about the game while I was coming up with the story overall.
So, this week is just going to be more of the same. I’m also going to start working on a checklist of things I need to get done before production can start. That’s going to be a long list!
