If it’s 2am, but you haven’t gone to bed yet, is it still Monday? I say yes!
Anyhow, another Monday is here and I’m dissatisfied with my progress. I was busy on another job last week, so I didn’t get to put as much time in as I would have liked.
I did get a very basic dialogue system going. I can now add lines to objects, save them, and edit them in the inspector. I still have no idea how I’m going to handle conversations. I mean, I have ideas, but I’m not sure how to implement them.
The way the dialogue system works is that all the lines are wrapped in a dialogue object. I’ll probably try to expand this idea so that a dialogue object contains all the lines of a conversation. Then, I’d just have to reference a single object. If I did it that way, I might be able to get away just using an external tool and then put a reference into Unity manually. It’d be a pain, and it wouldn’t be very user friendly, but it’s an idea.
I’m going to try not to get too bogged down with the details right now. I have a feeling a lot of things are going to change. I just want to get things working on a very basic level for now.
My plan for this week is: 1) to keep working on the story. 2)Make a good amount of progress on a conversation system. And 3)build a quick test scene that’ll allow me to test things and start developing an idea for workflow.
